Hare Krishna! Please accept my humble obeisances, all glories to Srila Prabhupada!
As many of you know, Gita Nagari farm has been awarded a grant from the State of Pennsylvania. While the grant is quite a large sum of money money - $45,000 - we are in the position of having to raise more funding in order to fulfill the requirements of the State. The funding comes in various stages - some work had to be finished by September 15th. The folks from the state will come to inspect and if satisfactory, they will release the portion of money needed to cover the work that has been done. ![]()
The new fences for the cows have been installed and you can see some pix here: (http://gallery.me.com/ortrung#100725) amd also on our Facebook page Adopt a Cow - this weekend, the contractors are scheduled to be at the farm to do some concrete work so that the cows can be moved from paddock to paddock for more efficient grazing. Check this link to read an explanation of the grant: http://www.gitanagari.org/node/152
I mentioned before that the grant needs to be supplemented. You are possibly aware of the fact that GN has been operated on a shoestring for quite some time and we would be hard pressed to find the funds needed to cover on our own. The monies we have received and will be receiving cover only approximately three fourths of the actual costs involved. This is where you come in. We have set up a paypal account especially for this Gita Nagari Development grant. I would like to appeal to you to visit our website and donate as much as you can to this cause. We need to raise approximately $20,000 altogether.
I know it is a lot to ask for donations in these troubled financial times, but Gita Nagari is a place that was very dear to Srila Prabhupada and we are trying our best to keep it running. Our cows deserve the best we can possibly provide for them.
Your servant,
Ortrun
