Hare Krishna!
Things are certainly moving along at Gita Nagari.
We have a new family at the farm. Recently Krishna Presthaya and her children came to stay for a time. Welcome!
New Sturdy FencingFriday found me at the farm and I was surprised to see that the fencing for the cows was just about finished. I found three men working - 2 Amish fellows and an English - and the work they did is simply outstanding. The posts are sturdy and the wires certainly will keep the cows in. We also have great new gates at each field, which will make getting the cows from one pasture to the other a snap.
I just want to remind everyone that this fencing is being paid for with a grant from the State of Pennsylvania and we are still looking for donors to help supplement this grant. Click here to donate. Any amount will be greatly appreciated.
As luck would have it, I was also there to see a dance recital by a number of Gita Nagari children. They had been going to summer school all week and it culminated with a dance recital for Sri Sri Radha Damodara. The children had worked really
Dance Recital hard and it was certainly evident in their wonderful performance. Congratulations!
In the garden: Drhuva maharaja and crew are still battling the groundhogs who seem to think the garden is their own smorgasboard. So far, the critters have managed to circumvent any protection for the plants that has been put into place.
Still, there is produce to deliver to our CSA members. The season will go on for another 6 weeks or so.
So far, it appears that everyone is happy with the produce and yoghurt and ghee they have received from the farm.
We have weathered the drought up to this point but Dhruva is in anxiety lest the well runs dry. We have had reports from other farms that their water is getting low. We did have some thunderstorms recently and they have certainly helped.
We look forward to another great CSA season next year. With much experience under our belts and hopefully another farmer who is planning to join us from New York.
