New born calves are taken care of with love and patience, like we do with all our other animals. They are able to bond with their mothers and are always in full view of them - never out of sight - unless the mothers wander about...for a break!
The interesting bit is that although it is hard work for the mothers to carry their calf for 9 to 10 months and birth them, we take over as "parent" once they are born: bottle feeding, cleaning them and their environment, brushing them, ensuring that they get their "calf crunch" grains and when ready, good quality hay.
It is very fulfiling and never, never a dull moment with these georgous babies.
