Clean-Up @ the Farm

Dear Devotees,
Hare Krishna!
Sunday was a very busy day at the farm. About 30 devotees from the Potomac Temple (and one from New Jersey) came in the morning to report for clean-up duty at the farm.
After a hardy breakfast, M Parijata divided them into various groups: A number of the ladies were pulling weeds in the small decorative garden by the temple - "What a difference a day makes!" to quote an old song. The garden looks wonderful and all the plants are clearly visible now and not obscured by the many weeds.
Then a short briefing on the history of Gita Nagari Farm by Acarya dasa and everyone was ready for action.
Most of the men went to the barn, and while I was not there personally - some of us only drove by the barn to see the cows - Dhruva maharaja reported that it was now cleaned out and ready to be whitewashed. I did mention in an e-mail that we were able to raise the funds needed for that task.
Some of the men came to the playground to mow and it looks very passable now. We do need to put down mulch in various places to make it more attractive and safer for the children to play in.
The coolest news I received is that the Potomac devotees might make this a monthly trip! This is so much appreciated by everyone at the farm, since there are too few hands to do all the tasks that need to be done.
Meanwhile, Hemagaura was laying tile in room # 7, which is now almost ready for occupancy. The painting was done last week.
Nandakisore and his children were working on the new dwelling behind the temple. He was putting in some dividing walls, and according to Hemagaura, ran out of material. It did not occur to Nandakisore until later that this was surely Krishna's plan for him as he realized that, with the walls in, he could not have brought in the pre-fab shower units he is planning to install!
A number of devotees from State College came to cook the Sunday feast. This was their first time. In the future they plan to come once monthly to cook the Sunday feast.
Everyone at the farm is gearing up for HH Romapada Swami's retreat at the end of May. We want to make sure everything is spic & span for him and all the devotees who will be visiting.
All that is left to say is "Thank You" to everyone who cooked breakfast, lunch and evening prasadam, your hard work is much appreciated.
Please check out the attached pictures  - obviously taken after a hard days' work! And, on a personal note, it was great to see many familiar faces (and learn new names: Anju :-) from our days at the Potomac Temple.
Your servant, Ortrun
