Here is a short update of  happenings at the farm.  
Even though we were hit with a huge thunderstorm last Friday, nothing on the farm sustained any damage. The cows did not panic and although the calves were a bit worried, M Parijata was on hand to calm any fears they might have had. Even the 'old faithful' greenhouse thankfully withstood the wind and all the seedlings were safe and sound inside.

As many of you already know, Bhakti Marga Swami has been spending a little time at Gita Nagari. The Sunday service was absolutely great! Not only did Maharaja perform the kirtan but then the congregation was privy to a new play: "Lonely People", which was written by Maharaja and two other people. It depicts the problem of loneliness among people today - from the family to the nuclear family. It was hard hitting and certainly timely.

Today was the "Great American Meat-Out" in Lewistown, organized by M Yasoda and the Lewistown Vegetarian Society.  Hemagaura and I went to represent Adopt a Cow for GN - While it was a nice experience, I was somewhat taken aback by some of the members stand. Most of the folks who organized the event are Vegans, which made it a bit hard to be the only one there w/burfi made from our cows milk. 

There was lots of great vegan food and a plethora of information in becoming a vegetarian, how to cook like a vegetarian, etc etc.

Things are certainly happening at the farm. Plans for the garden and CSA are in full swing. The farm is getting ever closer to being certified organic and also to being certified for milk production.
Tuesday, Hemagaura and Ortrun spent the day repairing the greenhouse in anticipation of all the new seedlings it needs to house. Winter had wreaked havoc and the plastic was actually non-existent on the ends.
Elsewhere, Nandakisore was sanding the prasadam hall floor in anticipation of a new floor covering. 

We have had the enlivening association of Abhayacaranavinda pr, his wife M Partha Sarathi, with their children sweet and friendly Radhe Shyam and little georgous 1 year old Arjuna. They stayed with us at the farm for 5 days. They assisted in a lot of services. We were all excited about finally cleaning out the barn - they are expert - it is super clean now!

I want to express my gratitude to the parents who are encouraging our children to come forward more in broader community and temple services.  This is very enlivening.  The children have been cleaning, prepping the veggies for the cooks, making the salads, leading sweet kirtans, stringing garlands, decorating, milking, and much more.  
 

On 28th February, we observed Gaura Purnima here at the farm - an annual Festival marking the new year based on the Vedic calendar (lunar, not solar), as well as the Appearance Day of the Supreme Personality of Godhead in His form known as Caitanya Mahaprabhu.  He is known as the "Golden Avatar" as well as the "Yuga Avatar" - The Lord Whom we worship in this yuga/age in time.
