HH Devamrita Swami at Gita Nagari

Dear Devotees,
HH Devamrita SwamiHH Devamrita SwamiHare Krishna! When things are good at Gita Nagari, they are REALLY good! Those of you who were not at this Sunday's service missed an extraordinary ecstatic kirtan led by HH Devamrita Swami. While things started out slowly, he certainly knows his audience and knows how to lead a kirtan that is very blissful and enlivening.

Cows are still available for adoption

Dear Devotees,
Hare Krishna!
It appears that the old adage "everyone who is young is desirable" is all too true for the most part.
We have been fortunate to have 4 news calves born this year: Venu, Pandu, Laksman & Bhumi. While three of them have been adopted - Thank you new parents! - BhumiBhumiBhumi is still looking for a family. He is so sweet and the white design on his forehead almost looks like tilak. I hope someone will come forward and adopt him soon.

Work Progresses at the Farm

Dear Devotees,
Hare Krishna!
A portion of the  inside and outside of the barn have been whitewashed and are almost ready to receive the milkers. Some work still needs to be done with clean up, both inside and out before the milking parlor becomes a reality.
Many thanks again to everyone who contributed to this effort!

GN Receives Grant

Dear Devotees,
Hare Krishna!
After much hard work and jumping through a number of hoops, Dhruva maharaja das has managed to procure a grant in the amount of $45.000 for the farm.
The monies will be used to upgrade the barn area as well as the pastures for our cows.
Here is a listing of the various projects:
Frost Free Hydrant: hydrants or faucets for watering the cows, as well as the pipelines that lead to them.
Fencing: high tension wires, animal walk ways, paddocks.

Clean-Up @ the Farm

Dear Devotees,
Hare Krishna!
Sunday was a very busy day at the farm. About 30 devotees from the Potomac Temple (and one from New Jersey) came in the morning to report for clean-up duty at the farm.

HH Candramauli Swami will be at GN

Dear Devotees,
Hare Krishna!
The Ratha Yatra team has just received confirmation that HH Candramauli Swami will be attending this year's Ratha Yatra at the farm.
Mark your calendars for July 31st!
Your servant,
Ortrun

Garden, Cows, Barn, Buildings Update

Dear Devotees,
Hare Krishna!
Here is a short update of  happenings at the farm.
Even though we were hit with a huge thunderstorm last Friday, nothing on the farm sustained any damage. The cows did not panic and although the calves were a bit worried, M Parijata was on hand to calm any fears they might have had. Even the 'old faithful' greenhouse thankfully withstood the wind and all the seedlings were safe and sound inside.

Bhakti Marga Swami at Gita Nagari

Hare Krishna!
As many of you already know, Bhakti Marga Swami has been spending a little time at Gita Nagari. The Sunday service was absolutely great! Not only did Maharaja perform the kirtan but then the congregation was privy to a new play: "Lonely People", which was written by Maharaja and two other people. It depicts the problem of loneliness among people today - from the family to the nuclear family. It was hard hitting and certainly timely.

April 3rd @ GN @ Beyond

Today was the "Great American Meat-Out" in Lewistown, organized by M Yasoda and the Lewistown Vegetarian Society.  Hemagaura and I went to represent Adopt a Cow for GN - While it was a nice experience, I was somewhat taken aback by some of the members stand. Most of the folks who organized the event are Vegans, which made it a bit hard to be the only one there w/burfi made from our cows milk.

There was lots of great vegan food and a plethora of information in becoming a vegetarian, how to cook like a vegetarian, etc etc.

Spring Day Activities at the Farm

Hare Krishna!
Things are certainly happening at the farm. Plans for the garden and CSA are in full swing. The farm is getting ever closer to being certified organic and also to being certified for milk production.
Tuesday, Hemagaura and Ortrun spent the day repairing the greenhouse in anticipation of all the new seedlings it needs to house. Winter had wreaked havoc and the plastic was actually non-existent on the ends.
Elsewhere, Nandakisore was sanding the prasadam hall floor in anticipation of a new floor covering.
